Welcome to the Basket!

Here I, your host the Spinning Fairy, will gush about all things fiber-related. There will be tutorials on basic spinning; tips for spinning different fibers; and advice on how to care for your yarns once you've spun them up. I'll showcase different spinning methods, from history and across the world; and I might even try some of them!

I'll do articles on Meet the Fleece, showcasing different types of fibers--and, when possible, the animals providing said fibers. There will also be instructions on how to clean raw fleeces of different types, and how to process them for spinning. I plan to showcase a lot of different fleeces--and different plant fibers, too, when I can get them!

Finally, there will be the Spinning Stories, where we go over fairy tales, myths, and various legends, featuring spinning, weaving, or both. Some will be familiar. Some will be new. All of them will explore what an integral part of life spinning was for families before the Industrial Revolution.
